[PDSL] PDSL Fall 201 Playoffs - dates and locations added to info

Sorry - playoff dates and locations were accidentally omitted in the prior email, they are added below.

PDSL Playoff Update:

If you have any questions or comments about this season's playoffs, please post in our league forums - click here.

In accordance with league rules, section 9.2.2, below please read the preliminary details of this season's playoff configuration. Please make note of the several changes and updates over previous seasons.  A flyer with additional details will be distributed soon.

Because of league expansion, this season's PDSL playoffs will be expanded to two regional playoffs followed by a league-wide playoff event to determine the overall league champion.  Two regional playoff events will determine the final 16 participants (8 from each region) who will compete in the central league championship finals event for cash prizes.

Here are the basic details outlining changes from previous seasons.
  • The two regional playoffs will be 1) New York/Connecticut and 2) Massachusetts; the top 8 finishers of each regional will advance to the Central League Championship
  • C Division will compete only in a regional event and regional C champions will receive a trophy. There will be no central playoff event for C Division.  C division players who want to try and qualify for the central playoffs are advised to play up in the B division event.
  • A separate central league championship will determine the overall league champion. The top 8 of each regional playoff will advance to the central league playoffs with the following payout structure.  See below for updated award payment policy*:
    • A Division: 1st: $480, 2nd $240, 3-4 $120, 5-8 $60; A total: $1200
    • B Division: 1st: $240, 2nd $120, 3-4 $60, 5-8 $30; B total: $600
    • Total Playoff Award Purse: $1800
  • The format for each regional playoff will be the same as previous seasons, i.e. same # of legs per round.  Seeding by PPR rank, mandatory chalking, player RSVP requirement and all other playoff features will remain the same.
REMINDERS FOR NEW PLAYERS:
  • To be eligible for the playoffs, you must have completed and filed reports for all regular season matches by the end of the end-of-season makeup period.
  • Once you are eligible, you will then need to RSVP and confirm your ability to attend your regional playoff.  Only RSVP if you are certain you can attend, last minute drop outs will cause BYES in the playoff bracket.  RSVPs are done via email to Mark Clifford.
  • Players will be seeded based on PPR and a bracket with matchups published online prior to the playoffs.
  • Players may opt to play in the division level above their PPR, but must inform the league of this request at time of RSVP.
Event Schedule and Locations:
  • NY/CT Regional Playoff:  January 23, 2011, McGee's Pub, New York City

[PDSL] Player Progress Chart Updates

Some new features have been added to player "My Stats" pages, they are described below.  To access player progress charts, you must be logged into your account on the league website, then on your "My Stats" pageyou will find a link in the upper right to 'Graphs".

Update 1: A trend line has been added to the PPR chart which is a moving average over five matches that displays how the player PPR is trending.  The trend line will only be displayed if the player has played six or more matches

Update 2, New Chart - "Points per Round per Leg Played": This graph correlates the number of legs thrown to the match PPR across the last forty matches. The number of matches played with each leg count and the specific average PPR for those matches can be viewed by hovering over the bar.

How to read this chart: Each individual bar will display a stat line such as "X legs, Y matches, Z ppr" which indicates how many matches in your last 40 lasted that many legs and with what ppr.  This may help you notice your differences in performance over longer match lengths vs shorter matches.

If you have any questions about these player charts, please post in our league forums, click here.

[PDSL] PDSL Players at the Winmau World Masters

We've made no secret that the prime mission of the PDSL is to prepare US players for the highest level of professional competition, and we are proud to announce that three of our current players have qualified to represent the United States at the prestigious Winmau World Masters being held in England at the end of October.

The PDSL will be allocating $150 from our pro sponsorship fund for each of our three delegates:
  • Jim Widmayer - NYC PRM Bracket - currently the PDSL #1 ranked player with a 78.52ppr.
  • Tom Sawyer - MA Essex/AMS Bracket - currently the PDSL #3 ranked player with a 76.0ppr
  • Kim LeDuc - NY Queens 4 Bracket - currently the PDSL #154 ranked player with a 37.68ppr
The 37th Annual Winmau World Masters is the oldest established major professional darts tournament in the world. For additional history and information, please visit the Winmau website - click here.  To see the draw for this tournament and who each player is matched up with in the first round, visit the BDO website.  This year's tournament will be held October 29-31 at The City Hall in Hull, England.  There is a possibility that matches will be available via live Internet stream, and we will provide links to them either through this email list or in our forums.  Fingers crossed for some US players to make it to the televised stage.

If you want to discuss the Winmau World Masters, please visit our forum thread - click here.

Good luck to all three, and we hope that the PDSL experience has helped provide training for this intense long-format matchplay.

Please see below important updates on the following league issues:
  • League Website Changes
  • Overdue Fees
  • Inactive Brackets
Until we have a greater amount of players subscribed to this list (currently only 60 people are subscribed), we rely strongly on players sharing this information with their bracket mates.  All players are strongly encouraged to subscribe to this list to stay informed.  Lack of awareness of league policies and issues can result in membership termination, playoff disqualification and other negative consequences.  It is each player's personal responsibility to be aware of league rules, policies and procedures.  Those who do not have email can get recent news by visiting the league website and forums.

--

League Website Changes:
  • The old website portal to all Patriot Dart League and PDSL information will soon be shut down.  Please begin using and bookmark the new Doublecork PDSL Homepage: http://pdsl.doublecork.com/

    • Posting of recent PDSL news
    • Posting of all recent forum threads
    • Form for subscribing to receive PDSL News via email
    • Links to standings, rankings and personal stats.  Please note, players will need to setup an account on this website and email their user name to Mark Clifford to be able to access personal stats.
  • New Facebook Group - The old Patriot Dart League FB group has been replaced.  The see the new Doublecork FB Group - Click Here
Overdue Fees:
  • There are still several brackets who have not submitted their $100 sponsor fee and many players who have not paid their $10 player fee for the season.  Payment must be received by the league no later than October 1, 2010 or overdue brackets will be deactivated and overdue players will have their league membership revoked.  Payment must be made by check (payable to "Doublecork, Inc.") and mailed to the following address (PayPal is not currently supported): Doublecork, Inc., 2000 West Street, Wrentham, MA 02093
    • A list of brackets with an outstanding balance has been posted on the forums - Click Here.  Bracket reps should take care of their outstanding sponsor fee balance immediately and also help facilitate payment of player fees for any of the players they represent.
Inactive Brackets:
  • There are brackets and players who have not yet input any match reports for this season.  If you are having any trouble submitting reports online or other difficulties in managing your bracket, please contact us for assistance.  Players should manage their matches so that there are no more than 2 makeups pending by season's official end date and to complete in the two-week makeup grace period. Brackets that fall behind by more than a few weeks risk being deactivated for inactivity.

COMING SOON:
Another reason to make sure you are subscribed to this list - stay tuned for details on this season's playoff format and structure.

Best regards and Shoot Well!
