PRO SPONSORSHIP FUND FOR FINALISTS NOW $1000

The championship playoff finalists from the highest division will EACH earn shares of this year's PDSL sponsorship funds which currently total $1000. Sponsorship funds are to be used at any long-format professional tournament such as Championship Dart Circuit, PDC NA Tour, Major League Darts or similar competition, within a calendar year, subject to approval. Please inquire if you are unsure if an event meets our eligibility requirement.

Spring 2015 Season - Complete details will be available soon. Application deadline is February 14, 2015 and the season begins week of March 1. Stay tuned for official announcements and sign up forms.

Thank you again for your membership in the PDSL this season and helping us grow professional long-format darts in the USA. As we wind down the Fall season and go into the makeup period, below please find a few reminders about makeups, the playoffs and the upcoming Spring 2015 season.

MAKEUP MATCH DEADLINE: Saturday, January 3, 2014. All matches must be completed and reports filed by the end of this date. Players with incomplete seasons will not be eligible for the playoffs.
PLAYOFFS - Playoffs were announced recently and will take place at Crown East Billiards in CT on Saturday, February 7. Stay tuned for a special announcement with all playoff details and news.
Spring 2015 Season - Details are currently being finalized, stay tuned for official announcements soon.

[PDSL] Important reminders for all PDSL members

PDSL LEAGUE COMMUNICATIONS

Dear PDSL Member:

PDSL's Fall 2014 season of professional long-format 501 starts next week! By now all bracket reps should have received their bracket kits with all the documentation you need. If you need additional blank match reports or other info, they are available on the member's stat website, bottom right corner under "downloads".

Below please find some important and helpful reminders about playing the league format, filling out match reports and other info. This is also attached as a handout that you can print out and share with anyone who does not receive our emails.

CHECK ALL MATCH REPORTS FOR 3 BASIC ERRORS:
1.   Make sure all legs won read 501 points scored and legs lost less than 501
2.   Player's dart counts for each leg must be within 3 darts of each other
3.   Darts thrown for all losing legs must be a multiple of 3

SCORING AND COUNTING DARTS:
For all NEW players: At first, keeping track of darts thrown and points scored can seem intimidating and cumbersome, but rest assured, it does become easy and natural after some experience. Over the first few seasons, different brackets have created different methods for keeping score which may help you. To discuss scoring methods and receive tips and tricks from other players, you should register with the league discussion forums to connect with other league members. Please contact the league if you have any questions about how to best keep score.

COUNTING DARTS
Since there's no doubling in, you can do this by counting turns. Just look at your scoresheet and count how many lines you've written or rounds you've thrown and multiply by three. The winner should also subtract how many darts are in their hand after they hit the double and subtract it from your total dart count.

The most common error is the leg loser's count. It MUST be a multiple of 3. Also, it will be a higher number than the opponent if the loser went second, a lower number if the loser went first.

This means it must be one of the following numbers:
3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30, 33, 36, 39, 42, 45, 48, 51, 54, 57.....etc

TIP: At the end of the night, review your report and make sure all loser legs are one of these numbers or a higher multiple of 3.

Busts Count as 3 Darts
Again, very important for PPR accuracy. Each time you bust, all 3 darts count towards the PPR. YES, we know it hurts, and it kills your average. If you don't like it, the solution is easy: Don't Bust. When keeping score and you're down to an out, put a mark on the sheet for each bust so you remember to count them, like a capital "B" for each one or hash marks or whatever works for you.

PLAYER STATS AND WEBSITE ACCESS:
For all NEW players: New players should visit the league member's website and create a new account (you'll find the link for creating accounts under "login" in the left column). Once you have created your account, email the username you have selected to markc@doublecork.com to gain access to your personal statistics data and charts.

MATCH FORMAT:
Before the season begins, you will need to decide with your players how many legs to play in each set. The league STRONGLY RECOMMENDS that you play Best of 5 legs, UNLESS you have problems with match length and ending late. If your players have matches lasting longer than 3 hours, you are advised to consider the shorter format of best of 3 legs for each set. If for any reason this creates a dispute among players in your bracket, contact the league for assistance.

MAKEUP MATCHES:
Makeup Match Policies: It is inadvisable for players to take a relaxed attitude towards makeup matches, including not phoning the opponent or bracket rep to reschedule matches in a timely manner or finishing the season incomplete. This is a matter of basic etiquette and respect and can cause annoying problems at season's end with standings and playoff eligibility.

The following policies were created to address this issue:

No Shows: If you can not attend a regularly scheduled match, you are required to inform your opponent as soon as possible to reschedule the match. Players who do not inform their opponent in advance will receive a warning. Repeated abuse will put player at risk for league suspension.

Makeup Deadlines/Extensions: Officially, makeups must be completed within 2 weeks of the original match. The league understands that player's busy lives can sometimes make this timeframe impractical, therefore, players may take additional time to complete makeups by requesting an extension. The two weeks following the end of the regular season is considered a "makeup period" during which time all unplayed matches must be completed, however, all players are strongly encouraged to make every effort to complete matches prior to this. Players who have more than 1 or 2 matches to complete at the end of the season should reconsider their ability to participate in future seasons.

Unplayed Matches: Players with incomplete seasons risk having their playoff eligibility revoked.

Get ready for the start of the new Fall 2014 season of professional long-format 501! Read on for important news about this season and an update on the PDSL player sponsorship program! We are continuing to expand and currently have over 250 players and 35 brackets across 5 states.

NO OTHER LEAGUES support prospective professional players like the PDSL!

Once again, the new season begins week of September 7. Bracket kits are being shipped and are on the way, but everything you need can also be downloaded from our website - just see the links below (click the name of the document to download or to visit the PDSL Member's site, bottom right corner under "downloads"):

Bracket Scheduler - Since there is no travel and matches are played in a single location, PDSL employs a flexible "do it yourself" scheduling system. Bracket reps will use this form to assign schedule positions to their players and should then distribute this schedule among their bracket.
Bracket Operations Sheet - Basic instructions for managing your PDSL Bracket.
Online Match Report Instructions - illustrated guide on how to enter completed match reports.
Blank Match Reports - can be used for all matches, including makeups.

The PDSL is the only national singles league focused on developing dart players to play in professional long-format matches. We are continually working to find innovative solutions to allow play in more parts of the country and to allow the country's best players to square off without the need for expensive travel. [PDSL] Last minute reminders and Fall Season critical dates

Thank you again for your membership in the PDSL this season and helping us grow professional long-format darts in the USA. As we wind down the Spring season makeup period, below please find a few reminders about makeups, the playoffs and the new Fall 2014 season.

Follow DoubleCork on our Facebook Page and Twitter feed.

MAKEUP MATCH DEADLNE: Saturday, June 28, 2014. All matches must be completed and reports filed by the end of this date. Players with incomplete seasons will not be eligible for the playoffs.
PLAYOFFS - Playoffs were announced recently and will take place at Crown East Billiards in CT on Saturday, July 12. For complete details, including prize money and sponsorship, click here.
Fall 2014 Season - Details have just been posted on our website and an email announcement will be made shortly. Application deadline is August 16, 2014 and the season begins week of September 7

[PDSL] Spring 2014 Playoff Update

To make sure you receive notice of updates and other breaking news, sign up for our email list or keep checking the playoff page on our main website.

Stay tuned for announcements about the Fall 2014 season.

Please read below the preliminary details of this season's playoff configuration, a flyer with additional details is also attached. Bracket reps, please consider printing this information out and distributing to your players.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

To be eligible for the playoffs, you must have completed and filed reports for all regular season matches by the June 28, 2014 deadline.

Players will be seeded based on PPR.

Players must CHECK IN onsite when they arrive at the playoff venue or will risk being considered absent and not included in the draw.

Players may opt to play in the division level above their PPR, but must inform the league at time of onsite check in.

Start Times:
Doors open at 11am. All divisions start play at 12:00pm
Players MUST CHECK IN at the desk when they arrive the venue or risk being considered absent and not included in the draw.

Championship Prize Funds:

A Division:
1st: $460, 2nd: $225,
3-4: $110, 5-8: $60;

B Division:
1st: $225, 2nd: $110,
3-4: $60; 5-8 $30

Total Playoff Award Purse: $1720

All awards will be paid by check and mailed to the winners after the tournament. IRS form W-9 will be required to be submitted by any player who earns $600 or more during the calendar year. Each player will receive an IRS form 1099 from the company and the company will file the required IRS form 1096.

PRO SPONSORSHIP FUND FOR FINALISTS NOW $1000

The championship playoff finalists from the highest division will EACH earn shares of this year's PDSL sponsorship funds which currently total $1000. Sponsorship funds are to be used at any long-format professional tournament such as New World Dart Series, PDC NA Tour, Major League Darts or similar competition, within a calendar year, subject to approval.

Below please find important updates regarding the Spring 2014 season makeup deadline and playoff details.

PLEASE NOTE: It is imperative that bracket reps and players share the following information in their bracket and help those without email or computer access to stay informed.

We also encourage you to follow DoubleCork on our Facebook Page and Twitter feed for the most timely updates.

As we reach the conclusion of the current season, the PDSL would like to thank all of our members for your continued support and participation. Below you will find helpful reminders and information about the upcoming playoff tournament to decide a league champion and recipients of the 2 professional sponsorship packages.

Here are some important reminders and updates as the regular season winds down:

All matches must be completed and reports filed. Players with incomplete seasons will not be eligible for the playoffs.
Two-week makeup period runs from your last regular season week until 06/28/14 and Saturday, JUNE 28th is the last day match reports will be accepted.

Playoff date and location will be announced shortly, awaiting final confirmations before we can make official.

** TWO PDSL PLAYERS WILL RECEIVE SPONSORSHIP TO ATTEND A PRO DARTS EVENT! **

The Spring 2014 championship playoff finalists from the highest division will earn shares of a $1000+ Sponsorship Package to be used towards attending any long format professional oriented tournament, including PDC NA Tour, New World Dart Series, Major League Darts or similar pro-format competition within the next calendar year, per league approval.
