[PDSL] Playoff Update

Much thanks to all PDSL members as we finish up the current Fall 2011 season. Information about the Spring 2012 season will be announced soon, but please be aware that we are restructuring a few things that will result in a later start than previous years, so stay tuned.

Reminders and Updates:

Bracket Reps must make sure that all players in their group are made aware of playoff details, eligibility and RSVP deadline. You may download a playoff flyer from the league website and hand it to each player to make sure everyone is aware of proper procedures.
Please remember that all match reports must be filed by the RSVP deadline, December 31, 2011.
Unlike previous seasons the draw for this season's playoffs will not be published in advance as the draw will take place same day as the regional playoffs to eliminate byes from last minute withdrawals.
Also, the venue for the Central League Championships on February 4th will take place at the British Club in Manchester, CT.

If you plan to attend, please make sure you have sent your RSVP confirmation to Mark Clifford at markc@doublecork.com . Failure to do so will result in your exclusion from this event. Bracket reps should poll their group and make sure that RSVPs are submitted by the deadline.

[PDSL] Fall 2011 Playoff Information

To make sure you receive notice of updates and other breaking news, sign up for our email list or keep checking the playoff page on our main website.

Please read below the preliminary details of this season's playoff configuration. Please make note of the several changes and updates over previous seasons. A flyer with additional details is attached. Bracket reps, please consider printing this information out and distributing to your players.

RSVP DEADLINE: DECEMBER 31, 2011

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

To be eligible for the playoffs, you must have completed and filed reports for all regular season matches by the end of the end-of-season makeup period.

Once you are eligible, you will then need to RSVP and confirm your ability to attend your regional playoff. Only RSVP if you are certain you can attend, last minute drop outs will cause BYES in the playoff bracket. RSVPs are done via email to Mark Clifford: markc@doublecork.com

Players will be seeded based on PPR and a bracket with matchups published online prior to the playoffs.

Players may opt to play in the division level above their PPR, but must inform the league of this request at time of RSVP.

New details for this season:

ALL regions will play on the same date: January 21, 2012

Region 1: NY Region 2: MA & CT (see locations/dates below)

Top 8 Regional Winners advance to Central League Championship on February 4, 2012 to compete for top prize funds (see below)

C Division will compete only in the regional events and regional C champions will receive a trophy. There will be no central playoff event for C Division. C division players who want to try and qualify for the central playoffs are advised to play up in the B division event.

Total Playoff Award Purse: $1720

All awards will be paid by check and mailed to the winners after the tournament. IRS form W-9 will be required to be submitted by any player who earns $600 or more during the calendar year. Each player will receive an IRS form 1099 from the company and the company will file the required IRS form 1096.

[PDSL] Spring 2011 Playoff Update - RSVP Deadline is 6/11

Mandatory Playoff RSVP Deadline: June 11, 2011
Players should RSVP themselves directly by contacting Mark Clifford by email to markc@doublecork.com or by phone at 508-641-2897. In order for your RSVP to be accepted, you must first make sure that your regular season is completed and all match reports have been filed. RSVPs will not be accepted from players with pending makeup matches. Players may RSVP for the playoffs as soon as their bracket's regular season is completed and all match reports are filed. ALL players who plan to attend the playoffs must RSVP by the published deadline. This is CRITICAL to the smooth running of the playoffs. Players who neglect to RSVP will NOT be allowed to play, with NO EXCEPTIONS.

Makeup Match Deadline Reminder: Makeup period ends June 4th, after which standings for this season will be frozen. Those with incomplete seasons may not qualify for the playoffs. If you are unable to finish your matches for legitimate reasons or your opponent is not cooperative, please contact Mark Clifford at markc@doublecork.com

[PDSL] Spring 2011 Playoff Information

Please note the following information is preliminary. To make sure you receive notice of updates and other breaking news, sign up for our email list or keep checking the playoff page on our main website.

In accordance with league rules, section 9.2.2, below please read the preliminary details of this season's playoff configuration. Please make note of the several changes and updates over previous seasons. A flyer with additional details will be distributed soon.

BASIC DETAILS:

Regional Playoffs:

NY Brackets (Including Broome County) - June 18, 2011. See location and schedule below.
MA & CT Brackets - June 18, 2011 - Location and schedule TBA.
NC Brackets - These 2 brackets will compete in their own regional playoff for a total playoff prize fund of $150. Details coming soon...

Central Playoffs: Will be held to determine overall league champion on June 25, 2011. Location and Schedule TBA.

PRIZE FUND UPDATE:
In response to player input, playoff prize funds have shifted to the respective regional playoff events. Regional playoffs will follow the following prize structure. Regional champions will advance to the central playoffs:

Regional Playoffs:

1st Place: A & B advance to central playoffs; C: Trophy

Regional 2nd Place: A Div: $140.00; B Div: $70.00

Regional 3rd-4th Place: A Div: $70.00; B Div: $35.00

At the Central Playoffs, regional champions will face-off for the following prize money:

Champion (1st place): A Div: $560.00; B Div: $280.00

Runner-Up (2nd place): A Div: $280.00; B Div: $140.00;

NY Regional Playoff Dates & Locations:

"A" level 3pm @ Flannery's (Manhattan)
"B" level 1 pm @ McGee's (Manhattan)
"C" level 12pm @ Flannery's (Manhattan)

[PDSL] Updated Bracket Materials

The PDSL has recently updated some of the documents used to manage your bracket. Fresh copies can be downloaded from the Spring 2011 Season page of the Doublecork.com website, and include:

Match Guidelines - For all players, but especially those new to PDSL, this document discusses scoring, counting darts and guidelines for makeup matches. It is VERY IMPORTANT for all players to read this document. Bracket reps should print this out and distribute to all players they represent.
Online Match Report Instructions - Has now been updated to match the current format of our Member's Website. This is for Bracket Reps who enter match reports.
Bracket Operations Sheet - a very brief guide to how brackets are to be managed.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
ONLY Bracket Reps are allowed to enter match reports. Bracket reps must first register an account on the league member's website, and then email your username to Mark Clifford - markc@doublecork.com. Once this is done, your account will be given access to the online match reporting system (download the instructions mentioned above). If for any reason the Bracket Rep is unable to fulfill this duty, contact Mark Clifford to discuss alternatives.

Despite the previous delay, the current season is off to a quick start. We have many new players and some are already making a mark on the league rankings. Some players are throwing high averages, above 80, and perhaps this season we will see our first player break 80ppr for a full season. Check it out on the PDSL Member's Website.

[PDSL] Spring 2011 Bracket Kits Are En Route

Bracket kits containing match reports, rules, etc, have been shipped and should arrive to Bracket Reps soon. If you need any materials, you can also download them and print them out, see links below.

The members website is currently being configured with this season's player info and should be ready by the beginning of this coming week for entering matches and notables. Thank you for your patience during this delay.

The PDSL is pleased to announce that the Spring 2011 season will have 29 brackets across 4 states which is our largest season yet. To view all brackets, click here.

A word regarding playoffs...
Please note that once again we could not predict our player numbers or geographical distribution until after the season start, which affects our ability to pre-construct a final playoff format and structure. We will do our best to determine this season's playoffs by week 6 and notify all players so they can plan accordingly. In general, you can expect our playoffs to be similar to past efforts, which you can review by downloading last season's playoff flyer. If you have any feedback on PDSL playoffs, we encourage you to post them in one of our forums (Doublecork Forums or SEWA) for all members to discuss.

[PDSL] Spring Season Delay & Fall 2010 Championship Updates

Spring 2011 Season Delayed Start

Due to weather-related causes and other reasons, there has been an unavoidable delay in the printing and distribution of PDSL Bracket Kits which include match reports, instructions, rules, etc. Because of this, brackets may opt to delay their start by one week (week of 2/13) or begin play next week with materials downloaded from our website (see below).

Please note that there will also be a delay for when match reports can be entered, notifications will be sent out when that is activated.

Bracket kits should be sent out by end of next week, but brackets may choose to start next week without it, see the links below to download match reports and other materials you may need. Please note the PDSL employs do it yourself scheduling (see "Bracket Scheduler" below), you do not need to wait for the league to create one.

UPDATE! Fall 2010 Central League Championship

A complete bracket listing the matchups for our 8 qualifiers from each region for the championship finals is attached.

Because of potential storm forecasts, many players have been inquiring about Weather Cancellation for the finals on February 5 in Connecticut. No decision has been made at this time as rescheduling requires analyzing many complicated scenarios. Any news about the status of Saturday's event will be made via this email list, our Twitter feed and the league website, so please stay tuned.

[PDSL] Official Playoff Brackets now available

Get ready for the gauntlet! PDSL Champions must show the toughness, stamina and endurance to win the title and the money in what is likely the most grueling day possible for any US dart player.

All RSVPs have been received and brackets have been posted for the PDSL Regional Playoffs on January 23 in NY and MA. A copy of the complete brackets are attached as well as copy of the playoff flyer that contains:

Venue Info and Start Time
Mandatory Chalking policy
Match format for each division

Brackets are also posted on our forums where you can also discuss this or ask questions - click here.

IMPORTANT If you are suddenly unable to participate, please inform the league as soon as you know. DO NOT NO SHOW without giving us a heads up. In the event you must withdraw from the playoffs, contact Mark Clifford at markc@doublecork.com or call 508-641-2897 (call, do not email if you must do so on the same day as the event) .

[PDSL] Playoff RSVP Confirmation List

We have posted a list on our website of all those currently confirmed to participate in the PDSL Playoffs. To view the list, click here.

If you notice someone missing from the list that should not be, please have them contact Mark Clifford ASAP.

Don't forget to RSVP for the playoffs! Deadline: January 9, 2011

All players must let the league know YES or NO if you will be able to participate at the regional playoff tournament on Sunday, January 23. Brackets are set in advance, so it is important that we know all participants by the deadline to minimize byes and organize the draw.
